Operational sales plans have to be like action plans with activities/deliverables, accountabilities, resources, budgets and deadlines. A template for download can be found here.

We propose to develop sales plans starting with the  ultimate goal and working backwards through rigorous cause and effect  logic (= necessary and sufficient conditions), through obstacles and  finally to realistic individual actions.

The review and follow up of sales plan achievements should be be done with a simple red / green  traffic light visualization methodology. Take a look at this sales reporting template.
